Every October, teams for all different levels, from high school to professional teams wear pink every October to help spread awareness for breast cancer. Breast cancer impacts millions of people all over the world, from people on the other side of the world to people in our community. It’s always important to help and support the people around you who are battling cancer because it’s hard to go through it alone.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, there are over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States alone. Just in 2024, there were an estimated 310,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in women all across the country. Breast Cancer doesn’t just affect women either. In 2023, 2,800 men were diagnosed with the disease and an estimated 2,800 again in 2024.
“Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the US, with an estimated 42,250 dying from the disease in 2024.” according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. With the number of people dying from breast cancer alone, it’s important to help support everyone who is fighting against breast cancer, including all types of cancer not just in October but all year round.
There are many different ways you can show support for breast cancer. From wearing pink to donating to different foundations or cancer research centers to everything in between. Even the smallest amount of support can make a big difference in a person’s battle against breast cancer.
