Grapple for the Granite is a big wrestling tournament between Timberline, Capital, Borah, and Boise. It is a bracket system where two schools go against each other, then another two, and the winners go head to head for the rock. Starting this year was Borah against Capital, in which Capital won, then Timberline won against Boise, leaving it down to Timberline and Capital battling for the rock. Timberline had won it the last two years and did so yet again beating Capital 55-25.

Cole Clint (Sr.) victory in every move.
Cole Clint is one of our very talented senior wrestlers for Timberline. He has been super passionate about the sport since he was a kid when his dad introduced him to it. His match against Lochlan McCormack, a junior at Capital. They both fought hard but in the end, Clint took the win.

Cole Clint (Sr.) is holding down for the win.

Benji Martinez (Jr.) wrestle, win, and repeat.
Benji Martinez who is a junior at Timberline also won his match against Capital. His match was quick and a great one to watch. Timberline is great at wrestling. We have won the rock the last two years and kept that streak going. With Coach Andrew Deloney leading them through thick and thin, we have been super successful.

Trenton Deloney (So.) wrestling against Capital.
Trenton Deloney (So.) is a very talented wrestler. His matches are always fun to watch with how intense it gets. Wrestling is such a mental sport. Before their matches, you can see them pacing back and forth, locking in with music, getting in the zone. Being mentally prepared is just as important as being physically ready. Matches can last for a super short amount of time or they can last super long. It’s a back-and-forth depending on how dedicated both wrestlers are. It can get super tiring if the match lasts a long time, or if they are out there just fighting for the win. Deloney with the inspiration of his dad truly helps him fight for his wins.
It was Timberline’s senior night during this intense battle and there was a ceremony in their honor. Our seniors Noah Morehouse, Cole Clint, Zach Cooper, and Paul Valentine have been super dedicated on and off the mat supporting their teammates and wrestling for their own wins. As it was their last year wrestling for Timberline we had to make this match a big deal. This tournament was super important to the whole team but especially them winning this will leave a lasting legacy behind in their names.
