If you’ve been to a Timberline football game, you’ve probably heard the name Hudson Lewis, a senior wide receiver who turns heads every single game. I had the honor of talking to him about his football career, and his story is incredible.
I started by asking him how he got into football. Here’s what he said:
“My dad, he always played football and just pushed me at a young age to play, and it became my purpose,” said Lewis. He also shared that his dad is his biggest inspiration, saying the way his dad goes about things and his mentality just matches his.
Hearing about the impact his dad has had on his career is truly beautiful and really shows how family can shape who you are.
Student athletes have a lot on their plates, balancing practice with school and other responsibilities. He told me that even though football is his biggest priority, he’s always taking care of his classwork, and he’s had to develop strong time management skills because of how much time football takes up.
Another big part of high school football is having a strong team bond. Lewis talked about how he gets along with his teammates really well and has no problem talking to anyone on the team. Having a good relationship with your teammates is very important to the overall dynamic of the team.

Playing sports, you come across a lot of special moments that stick with you for a long time. So I asked him what one of his biggest game highlights was, and here was his answer.
“I picked off a pitch against Owyhee last year to go to the playoffs, so that was very special,” said Lewis.
It’s easy to get a rush of adrenaline before or during a game. Lewis said one thing that really amps him up is when the National Anthem starts playing right before kickoff.
He’s been part of the Timberline football program for years, and he said it’s helped him grow a lot as both a player and a person. He expressed how grateful he is to be surrounded by great coaches who constantly push him in the right direction.
“…especially Coach Smart, he helped me build myself outside of football,” said Lewis.
Talking to him about all of this really opened up a new perspective on how much someone can pour into something they love and how having something so meaningful can truly shape who you are as a person.
