The Timberline varsity volleyball team fights against Rocky Mountain High at Timberline’s home gym on September 16th. As the ball floated high to the outside, Lily Merservier charged toward the net. On the other hand, two Rocky blockers rose in unison, their arms stretched wide, ready to smother the attack, but Mesevier was unfazed. She leapt high, meeting the ball at its peak, and unleashed a powerful swing. The ball sliced cleanly through their hands.
A blur of speed that left Rocky’s back row frozen in place. It slammed into the ground with a resounding smack, echoing through the gym. For a split second, silence lingered—then the Timberline stands exploded in cheers, the sound of stomping feet and clapping hands rattling the rafters. Merservier’s teammates swarmed her with shouts of excitement, feeding off the adrenaline of the moment, while Rocky’s players stood motionless, stunned by the unstoppable kill. The energy inside the gym surged higher, the kind of momentum-shifting play that set the tone for the rest of the set.
