Vending Machine Favorites

An insight to what Timberline students crave.

The vending machines are the first thing you see when you walk into the building, the first place people go when the lunch bell rings. But the real question is, what is the favorite snack this year? Which is more popular this year, using cash, card, or Apple Pay?

We took a survey of 70 Timberline students, a mix of all grades, and asked them this same question.

For the snacks category chips were very popular, specifically Doritos or the Lays Jalapeno chips, which students said they love at lunch and break. Another big favorite were Grandma’s Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies, which have the perfect crunch.

It feels like Apple Pay is super popular nowadays, but the results were pretty even with payment options. 40% of the students use Apple Pay, 35.7% use card, and 24.3% use cash at the vending machines.

My name is Claire Hansen, and I am a sophomore at Timberline High School. I went to East Junior High, and I was part of the Yearbook Staff and it gave me the opportunity to take photos. I’ve always had a passion for photography, whether it was filming or taking photos, as well as editing photos. With photography, I’m interested in covering Student Life, and getting to showcase many students. Along with that, this year I really want to work on improving my photo taking skills, specifically candid and action shots. Outside of Newspaper, I play drums and electric guitar at Boise Rock School!

Emma Krouse, Reporter

Hi my name is Emma Krouse, and I am a sophomore at Timberline High School. I’ve known I’ve wanted to do journalism and have been looking forward to it since 9th grade. I joined the newspaper because I knew it was a good, supportive community, and I could express myself through the class. I wouldn’t say I have any particular strengths, but I do think I’m best at interviewing and taking notes. My goals for this year would be to get better at writing and working with a team. A fun fact about me is that I hope to move out of the country someday.
