On Sunday, October 5, I had the opportunity to speak with Maura Walters, a senior on our girls soccer team here at Timberline. I just asked her a few questions about her soccer experience, and here is what she said.
To start, I asked her how she had grown as a player and as a person in general, and here’s what she said.
“As a player, I grew a lot by competing and learning from my teammates at practice 5 days a week. As a person, I learned how to work and lead very well with others,” said Walters.
Putting in the passion and effort really helps you improve and shows the true passion Walters has behind the sport.

Next, I asked her ¨how would you describe the bond between the seniors this year,¨ and ¨what has been the most challenging part of this season so far.¨
Walters said, ¨The bond between this year is amazing. Both on and off the field, everyone gets along very well. The whole team supports and cheers each other on, no matter what! The most challenging part was becoming the oldest on the team. I want to be someone who all the underclass players look up to and be a good example for them.¨
This really shows how much she puts into her team’s relationship and bonding, which is just so meaningful in sports and on teams.
Lastly, I asked her, ¨what advice would you give to underclassmen coming up into the program.¨
¨As everyone says, time does actually fly. I can remember freshman year like it was yesterday. Make every moment on the team memorable,¨ said Walters.
This was a really inspiring and fun interview; she truly is in it to win it.
