Soccer is a very difficult and athletic sport that, if you play, you need to have the heart and passion for it. On October 7th, I got to talk to Cohen Cathey, one of our boys varsity soccer players, and ask him a few questions. Here’s what he had to say.
First of all, I asked him what one of his favorite memories from his high school soccer career was.
Cathey said ¨Probably scoring a goal against Eagle in districts last year. Even though we ended up losing, it was still one of the best goals I’ve scored.¨
Even though that game came out as a loss, even just a simple goal can be a super important moment.
Nextly, I asked him, ¨Who has been the biggest influence on your soccer career?¨
¨Probably my dad. He’s been to almost every game since I was a kid and always pushed me to get better,¨ said Cathey.
Family is everything when it comes to a support system, and having that rock can truly inspire you to keep it up and continue playing.

Then I asked him what advice he would give younger kids coming into the program.
¨I feel like you shouldn’t take it for granted, and the seasons go by quickly. And don’t hold back and really enjoy playing and at least just hanging out with everyone,¨ said Cathey.
Lastly, I asked him to describe the bond the team has, and here’s what he said.
Cathey said, ¨Most of us have been playing together for a while, and I feel like we always have each other’s backs no matter what.¨
His hard work and dedication are clear, and you can see he truly has a heart for soccer and has put in lots of work to get to where he is.
