A lot of people like to play games, specifically on their phones. I mean, It is pretty convenient to have a device that can do everything and anything. It used to be that playing games was a console or computer exclusive thing. But as technology has progressed, we have been able to do more and more things on our phones. One of these things includes video games.
Mobile gaming has had a surge in popularity, you can probably catch most of your peers playing something on their own phones. Whether it’s at lunch, during break, or even if you stick around after school. Even you have probably played a game on your phone. It’s pretty universal now, and there’s this one game I have been playing non-stop on my phone- Umamusume; Pretty Derby. A game based around real life, actual racehorses! At first, I thought the concept was a little boring, and I didn’t entirely understand what you would even do in this game.
You’ve probably seen this game around, whether it’s on social media, or your own friends have played it. And I would have to say from personal experience… It is definitely worth the hype!
You take on the role of a trainer, who trains- well, horse girls. They each have their own real horse who has actually competed in live tracks. An example of this is El Condor Pasa. An American bred, Japanese trained horse with his lively and confident counterpart who is named accordingly- As well as Haru Urarua, a horse with a notorious losing streak- never winning a race once in her lifetime, known as the “Shining Star of Losers Everywhere”
It’s not too hard to understand the mechanics of the game, it’s a pretty simple concept. You train characters, you race, there’s a story, and you’ll pull for new characters and support cards to help those characters through the Uma Finals! You train those said characters obtained by “scouting them.” It kind of reminds me of a visual novel with a bit more gameplay, and more interactive choices.
