On Wednesday, October 8th, I got to talk to Sami Gundy (Sr.) about her experience on our Timberline High School swim team. Though this was her first year swimming on our school’s team, she had some truly good things to say, and I am very glad I did this interview. Here are some of the things we talked about.
The first question I asked her was, “What events does she participate in at the meets?” She told me that she swims the 50 free, 200IM, 200 medley, and the 200 free relay.
Swimming is such a mental and physical sport; her doing all these events is really inspiring.
She has a lot of great memories from the swim team this year, like when she finished her 100 fly, when her coach yelled at her for doing social kicks, and all the outside events the team does together.
These are amazing moments, like achieving a goal or just the team bonding they get to experience together.
Nextly, I asked her, “What is something you have learned from swimming that you will take with you after high school?”

“I have learned the best sportsmanship with this sport. I will definitely take this with me after high school,” said Gundy.
Sportsmanship is a crucial aspect of athletics. It shows respect and integrity and demonstrates how to win or lose with dignity.
Lastly, I asked her what her plans are after she graduates and if swimming is part of her future.
Gundy said, “My plan is to attend college and study criminal justice. I plan on continuing to swim throughout college.”
This was a really inspiring and fun interview. All of her responses just show her growth and will to keep going in and out of swim. She is truly a motivating and influential girl.
