Since July 2024, we’ve had tons of fires, caused by humans or lightning. Our state is one of three with fires all over it.
The Wapiti fire was caused by lightning on July 24th, 2024, this fire was specifically caused by lightning. It is over 125,459 acres and 71% contained. There are over 1,100 personnel working to contain this fire so it will stop spreading. Highway 21 is closed to Stanley due to the fires on the way there.
The lava fire was once two different fires, one being the lava fire and the other being the boulder fire. They both were in Cascade Idaho When they merged they took the lava fire and put it as the name of the merged fire. They were both caused by lightning. The fire is over 97,000 acres and is now 44% contained as of 09/18/2024.
The plex fire was over by Micron in Boise Idaho. It was man-made and over 400 acres. It was 100% contained on September 5th, 2024.
Fires can happen anywhere at any time, it doesn’t matter. We all need to be safe with what we do. Lightning is a natural disaster and can’t always be prevented. Human-caused fires can all be prevented with our knowledge.
