As the 2024 Timberline High School mountain biking season kicks off, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Braydon Revera to discuss his goals, experiences, and thoughts on the team. Here’s what he shared.
I asked Revera what his goals for this year were, ¨I want to get better and have improvements in my rankings, I would also like to get a better success rating.¨ said Revera. ¨What made you want to join this year’s team?¨ I asked. ¨ I got injured last year and I felt I had some things I didn’t get to finish. I also just fell in love with everything about the sport. I was also just really eager to get back on the bike again.¨ said Revera. I asked him how this year’s season is going so far, ¨Pretty good, I have over-doubled my skill level so far and I have cut down how I finished by over half so far.¨ said Revera. ¨how do you think you are going to do?¨ I asked. ¨I’m looking for the top 20 at the race but because of the current weather I haven’t been able to go out and get much practice time in. so more like 30.¨ I asked Revera what the best part of the team so far this year is. ¨So far the best part of the team is camping out the night before a race and having team dinner.¨ “What is the overall atmosphere of the team this year so far?” I asked. ¨oh it’s all positive, absolutely nothing negative. All the team members are so nice and give great constructive criticism. Before a race, we all hype each other up and get each other ready for the race.¨ said Revera. “How is the coaching this year?” I asked. ¨They are awesome, just as supportive if not more supportive than my teammates. They offer a lot of help with my form, anything mechanical, fixing my bike, and other things¨ said Revera. “What kind of bike do you race with?” I asked. ¨I have a few different bikes but mainly I race with a Trek Rosco ¨ Said Revera. ¨How have all the other races this year gone so far?¨ I asked. ¨I have only had two races this year, but they have both gone well.¨ said Revera.
Rivera’s enthusiasm for the season is evident, and his commitment to improving both himself and his team shines through in our conversation. With a positive atmosphere and supportive teammates and coaches, he’s ready to tackle the challenges ahead and achieve his goals this season.
