Early Friday morning, a fire sparked along Highway 21 in East Boise. Shortly after the fire was being dealt with by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Authorities directed schools East Junior High and Dallas Harris Elementary to close and students were sent to Les Bois Junior High, where parents could pick them up.
Estimates around 3:00 p.m. put the fire at about 4,000 acres. The fire is still being contained and is not put out completely yet. Residents of Robie Creek and Harris North are urged to prepare to evacuate and pay attention to evacuation notices on the fire department’s and sheriff’s departments’ social media pages.
A portion of Warm Springs Road from Highway 21 to Eckert Road is still currently closed to the public for easy access for Boise Police and fire crews, and there is no estimated time for reopening. Helicopters are on scene dropping water on the fires along with help from the Boise Fire Department and BLM.
Friday afternoon, more fire activity was reported in the area North of Warm Springs Avenue and Table Rock Road. Residents were notified they should be aware of fire activity but were returned to “Ready” after previously being in “Set” evacuation status. Based on expected wind conditions tonight, crews are closely monitoring conditions and actively notifying residents in fire active areas.
UPDATE: Friday, around 10:00 p.m., the fire has burned an estimated 7,871 acres. Crews are performing proactive fire operations in the valley area to protect containment lines.
