On Tuesday, I got the chance to interview Carson Huegerich, a senior at Timberline, and a member of our student council. During our time chatting we talked about the student council, what that is, and what they’ve done for the school this year. This was a super fun interview and a really good chance for me to learn more about what the student council does for Timberline and more specifically what Carson does as a part of it.
While getting to know him a bit Huegerich said, “I am pretty outgoing and I like to interact with a lot of different people with different backgrounds whether it be people in student council or people from basketball and other sports.”
Carson is our ASB Treasurer at Timberline and he described it to me as everything that the student council buys goes through him before the purchase. He then gave me an example of how his job works.
“Let’s say that we’re trying to get donuts for a sporting event so then I would fill out a purchase request and send it to Ms. Rabin, she gets a check, and then I can go to Albertsons and buy those,” said Huegerich.
Carson got involved into student council when some of his friends had told him about it and how much fun they had in the class and ran for his role of ASB Treasurer because he was thinking that he might want to go into finance in the future.
On the topic of what student council has accomplished this year, he mentioned the addition of Wolf Wednesdays and how that helps students stay involved and know what is happening with Timberline. We also talked about how they are trying to make dances better and more enjoyable. Student council got a bunch of good feedback about the homecoming dance and how much everyone loved it compared to the dances from last year which many people didn’t show up to.
Lastly to end off the interview I asked Carson if he had any advice for someone who may want to join student council in the future.
Huegerich said, “I definitely recommend you apply, it’s not very hard and it’s a whole lot of fun.”
