The House of Blue, a story that is more local than many may realize or may even know. The story itself is rather blue, or perhaps red in a different view. This story begins across the street of a house that young Taylor lived in. His Stepmother is someone who is interested in knowledge and, ironically, horror. One of the stories she would tell him and his sisters would be one about a house next door. This house was strange to Taylor at the time and even now, for many people would move in and out very quickly. But a particular story was of interest towards the storyteller and as well as the listener. An immigrant from Europe moved into the haunting house of blue, moving into it shortly before the stepmother had. She had gotten a stunning deal on the house, a low price that had shocked her family. However, many people in this same neighborhood are aware that this very house has a long past of short occupations for some odd reason. Without fail, most renters and homeowners simply ran or sold the home after less than two years.
The new homeowner, Natalie, started noticing strange things. She would tell the stepmother and dad things like, “Things touched me at night”, “My lights turned off by themselves”, “I see shadows of people”. In truth, this oddly did not surprise the neighbors for it happened to every homeowner that has owned that very property before her. But sweet Natalie refused to sell the house though she was determined to survive the so-called “haunting”. She then started to do strange things. She started murmuring “I want to fly with the birds”. She then eventually attempted to run straight into traffic on Geckler Lane. The stepmother and another neighbor restrained her from committing such an act. But all she kept saying was “I need to fly with the birds!” Natalie was soon hospitalized, put on a “psych hold”.
Once released, she came home and finally put her house up for sale, however, she spent more than 2 years there and the sale wasn’t in her favor. Shortly after putting the home up for sale, she went downtown and drank with friends, laughed, then she simply had a sudden desire to walk out of the restaurant. Natalie made one last phone call to her mother. It went to voice-mail, and it said “I see the birds, mom, I can fly”. Soon after, Taylor’s dad gets a phone call to clean up a mess, somewhere near the 805 restaurant. To this very day, nobody has or dared to stay any longer than 2 years at the house of blue.
