On October 29, I got to talk to Luke Drescher (Sr.), a very skilled and important part of Timberline’s varsity golf team. I just asked him a few questions about his golf career/experience; he responded with the following.
Firstly, I asked him, “What has been the most challenging part of balancing golf with school?”
Drescher said, “The most challenging part of balancing golf with school is the amount of school days we missed. As Mr. Bronner says, first semester, I was a part-time student and a full-time golfer.”
He was truly committed during this season, and I can only imagine how much he had to make up in his off time due to the amount of class time he was absent for.
Nextly, I asked what course he had played on was his favorite.
“My favorite course that I have ever played is Colorado Golf Club because of how difficult it is, and the course layout is amazing. There are so many great courses in the world, but from the ones I have played so far, Colorado Golf Club is the best,” said Drescher.
There are many gorgeous courses around the world, and taking a look at this one, I understand why it is his favorite so far.

Following that, I asked, “How has your game improved or changed since you first joined the golf team?”
Drescher said, “My game has improved since joining the golf team because I have developed better practice habits. When I go to practice, it’s not so much about how many golf balls I hit on the range but more so treating each shot as if I was on the course trying to hit a specific shot.”
This really shows how commitment and integrity affect your game. You truly need the desire to get better to have any sort of improvement.
Lastly, we talked about what his proudest moment/a moment to remember from his golf career was.
“I’m most proud of my win this summer at the Rocky Mountain section PGA, which qualified me for the junior PGA championship, where I got to compete against Charlie Woods and some other amazing junior golfers,” said Drescher.
Drescher had a great season this year, ending off tying for 3rd, and the whole team ended in 2nd place in the state.
