On December 16th, I got the opportunity to talk to one of our senior cheerleaders, Paige Aslett (Sr.). I got to talk to her about all things involving cheer, and here are some of her answers.
Firstly, I asked her, ¨what has being on the cheer team taught you the most over your high school years?¨
Aslett said, ¨Being on the cheer team has taught me a lot. The biggest thing it’s taught me is time management. With year-round practices, then games and competitions, it can be hard to balance. But through the years, I’ve learned how to balance all this on top of time for myself, school, my friends, and a job. That’s a skill that will stick with me for the rest of my life.¨
This really shows how sports can impact your life and how you think.
Nextly, I asked her, ¨what’s your favorite memory from cheering at games or competitions?¨
¨My favorite memories from completions are all the times we made it to state. It’s so special to accomplish the goals we work all year for,¨ said Aslett.

Paige Aslett (Sr.) stunting at a competition.
Making it to state for a high school sport is a surreal moment for any student. Our school is full of amazing teams who work their hardest because making it to state is not an easy task, and you have to be really committed to your sport, team, and coaches.
Lastly, I asked her, ¨are you going to continue cheering after you graduate?¨
Aslett said, ¨Sadly, I am not going to continue cheering in college. I am going to miss a lot about cheer, but the thing I am going to miss most is my team and the community it brings. I will miss spending countless hours with my best friends.¨
When you are committed to a sport, it takes so much of your time, and you truly grow a huge connection to your team and the sport itself. Even though she isn’t continuing after high school, she is going to have all these really special moments to look back on and be proud of.
I’ve known Aslett for a really long time, and she is truly one of the sweetest people I know. Doing this interview with her was really special, and I am so happy I chose her to talk to.
