On February 4, I talked to Gabi Iglesias (Sr.) about her high school and overall basketball career. She has been playing for 12 years, and I wanted to learn a little bit about her and her history. Here is what she said.
Firstly, I asked her, “What has being on the basketball team taught you the most over your high school years?”
Iglesias said, “It has taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to stay committed even when things are hard.”
Sports teach lots and lots over time if you are truly dedicated to them.
Next, I asked, “What’s your favorite memory from playing at games?”
“My favorite memory was beating Borah at the beginning of the season because the energy from our team and fans was amazing,” said Iglesias.
Teams being hype really helps keep the spirits up and makes the game so much better. Also, having a good audience really brings excitement.
Lastly, we talked about who her biggest role model is and why.
Iglesias said, “My biggest role model is my brother because he is the hardest worker I know.”
Having that kind of figure in your life really, really is inspiring and is very beneficial.
This interview was really eye-opening and shows how good our girls basketball team’s dynamic is. Your team is always one of your biggest supporters, and it’s so good to have a good, healthy relationship like that.
